Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix

This 140-acre garden features five unique trails to help you explore and enjoy the beauty of the Sonoran desert. Visit from November through December when more than 8,000 hand-lit luminaria bags, inspired by the Mexican holiday tradition, line the trails of the garden. Phoenix Zoo

Set your sights on 1,400 animals, always unpredictable and fun to observe. The Phoenix Zoo is also home to 30 species that are endangered or threatened. Tovrea Castle in Phoenix

Tovrea Castle is an outstanding structure that resembles a wedding cake. Built in 1929, this sight is admired regularly from the Loop 202 freeway but to truly appreciate a visit and guided tour is recommended. Located at 5025 E. Van Buren, Phoenix, AZ, 85008.
