Intermediate AWHONN EFM Certification – Single day format

9:00 am- 5:00 pm

AWHONN’s Fetal Heart Monitoring Program is an add-on option to your TravCon conference ticket. This is now a one-day course led by Onika Davis, RN & Patricia Pitts, RN.

This course is designed for the perinatal nurse who has completed a Basic EFM course & is working in an Antepartum or Labor & Delivery setting. With the new format, there is some pre-course work that must be done prior to your in-person class.
 
Details and instructions are in your REQUIRED AWHONN student materials that must be purchased separately from Kendal Hunt Publishing. The New unopened Student packet contains a unique individual code for each student. So, you cannot share the information or use a previously used book.  The Required online prerequisite will take approximately 3.5 hours & must be completed prior to class. This new & updated online format includes Assessment and interpretation of EFM Strips, Various Techniques in EFM, and videos on Leopold’s Maneuvers, IUPC, FSE, and Intermittent Auscultation followed by a brief post-test. The online portion of this course must be completed to attend the in-person session with your AWHONN Instructor.

This class is for re-certification for those who are current (or who have expired) & are currently working in an area that requires it (delivery & care of newborns).

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) offers education based on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/American Heart Association (AHA) “Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Emergency Cardiovascular Care: Neonatal Resuscitation Guidelines.”

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth & facilitates effective team based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at time of delivery.
 
**The Essential content delivers curricula for providers who participate in neonatal resuscitation up to positive pressure ventilation. Essential NRP is recommended for Techs and clinical Assistants. (RNs check your hospital’s specific requirements if you are considering this option)
 
**The advanced content delivers curricula for Providers who may participate in neonatal resuscitation beyond positive pressure ventilation. Recommended for L&D RNs attending the birth
 
Part 1 must be completed online by everyone through the AAP Learning platform prior to the scheduled live instructor check-off class.  Certificate of completion for Part 1 must be submitted to the instructor prior to this class. Here is the link to register & complete Part 1.

Medical Spanish for Healthcare Professionals – Intermediate

This 4-hour workshop will provide healthcare providers with a review of basic Spanish grammar and pronunciation. This course is for those who already have a good foundation of basic Spanish and who want to expand their vocabulary and conversational skills in a variety of medical settings.  The intermediate course will expand your vocabulary and use complex sentences in medical conversations. ***Time will be given to attend the Farewell Brunch.
