This article provided by: Travel Nurse Across America.

Working as a travel nurse on assignment, most of your work hours are spent on your feet.  Knowing which brand of travel nurse shoes are going to give you the most support, cause less aching and just feel the most comfortable is very important.

We recently conducted a poll on our Facebook group asking our members what their favorite brands of travel nurse shoes are.  Below you will find the top 7 brands as voted on by travel nurses, as well as some information and links to learn more about each brand of travel nurse shoes. As you will see running shoes are very popular among travel nurses.  The support that running shoes offers is a huge benefit for travel nurses.

Top 7 Travel Nurse Shoe Brands

  1. Alegria
  2. Hoka
  3. Dansko
  4. Asics
  5. Nike
  6. Sketchers
  7. Brooks

Alegraia’s line of professional shoes are both stylish and comfortable.  They come in a variety of designs and styles.   Their price tends to be about $130 a pair for women’s and $140 a pair, but can you really put a price on comfort?

They started with what is most important–a patented footbed. The footbed is the secret sauce of the Alegria shoe. What you have is a patented combination of cork, soft polyurethane, and memory foam. Comfort from heel to toe with ample arch support to ensure that every time you slip on your Alegria Shoes, you will feel the customized fit in action.

Next, they developed the second most important factor–the outsole. The outsole of the shoe slopes slightly producing a naturally and anatomically correct walking motion and benefiting wearers by promoting better posture, reducing stress on leg and back muscles and reducing joint and metatarsal pressure.

Hoka One One shoes were created for runners, what better shoes for travel nurses than shoes that were designed for running, because let’s be honest a lot of nursing work is running around and spending time on your feet.  The price of each pair varies depending on the style you choose.

Meta-Rocker, or wheels for your feet, is all about the geometry. We combine a low heel-toe drop, our unique-shaped midsoles and signature HOKA cushioning to complement a runner’s normal gait cycle and drive you forward.

Dansko shoes are a clog style.  They come in a variety of styles to fit any personality.   They range in price from $100-$150 a pair for both Men’s and Women’s

Dansko shoes are for people who strive to get the most from life. We make shoes that are simply good for your feet-all day, every day-in a range of styles that are just right for you. Like you, we go the extra mile, love what we do, and do our best to make the world a better place.

Asics are also a running shoe company.  They offer many different styles to choose from, although Gel seem to be the popular style among travel nurses.  They vary in price depending on which style you choose.

Asics offers a few different varieties of Gel shoes including;

Gel- Kayano

Designed for a lightweight ride, the GEL-KAYANO® 25 LITE-SHOW® men’s running shoe guarantees high level comfort and stability.

Gel Nimbus

Feel the confidence to push your run further with the re-engineered ASICS® GEL-NIMBUS 21 men’s running shoe, designed to offer ultimate comfort and a perfect fit.

Gel Quantum Series

This highly-engineered, cushioned shoe is designed for high level foot comfort when you’re on the move, giving you the energy to run that little bit further, time after time.

Gel Cumulus

Experience the enhanced comfort of the full engineered mesh upper which provides seamless friction-free construction, while an improved design means ample room in the ball and toe areas of the shoe. The mesh fabric offers an improved fit and lets your hardworking feet breath and keep comfortable as you put them through their paces.

Again, designed as running shoes, Nike has some great shoes that offer many benefits to travel nurses.  One popular style is the Nike Flex.  Prices vary by style of shoe.

  • Circular-knit construction allows your foot to flex naturally

Sketchers was ranked #6 among travel nurses in the group.  They offers a very broad variety of work shoes.  There are many designs for any taste!  Prices vary from style to style.  One style they offer is a work clog.

It is a classic clog style that gives all day comfort and support Smooth leather upper in a slip on closed back casual work clog with roomy comfort design, shock absorbing lightweight midsole and slip resistant outsole.

Brooks is another running shoe company that ranked high in our poll.  The Brooks Addiction walker seems to be a popular option for travel nurses.  They price is $120 a pair.

As they state on their website, this walking shoe pairs great support with slip-resistant soles so nothing catches you off-guard.

There are so many different styles and brands of shoes out there that are great for travel nurses.
