AMN Healthcare is partnering with a Mentor, OH school district to hire a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to work with one of the top districts in the area, providing 1:1 services for a single student.

Required Qualifications
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio Minimum of 1 year of recent pediatric, school nursing, home health, or similar direct patient care experience Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association or equivalent Experience with 1:1 care, chronic disease management, and emergency response in children or adolescents Proficiency in developing and following individualized healthcare plans (IHP) and emergency care plans Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers Strong assessment skills and clinical judgment in a school or community setting Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and confidential health documentation and electronic records Up-to-date vaccinations as required by Ohio regulations and district policy, including TB screening and annual influenza recommendation Ability to meet district and state background check requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a school nurse or 1:1 nurse within a school district Experience caring for students with complex medical needs such as tracheostomy care, G-tubes, seizure disorders, or diabetes management Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans Prior experience with special education or working with students with developmental or physical disabilities Training in CPI, de-escalation, or behavioral health support in pediatric populations Proficiency with common school district electronic documentation systems and EMR platforms Strong communication skills with comfort presenting health information to staff and families Experience coordinating care with pediatric specialists, primary care providers, and community resources.

In this position, you will provide direct, individualized nursing care to a designated student throughout the school day and, as required, during school-related transportation or activities. Your day typically includes monitoring the student’s health status, administering medications and treatments, and responding to any changes in condition. You will follow the student’s individualized healthcare plan, perform necessary procedures, and ensure a safe environment in the classroom, cafeteria, playground, and other school settings.

Key responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and symptoms, administering physician-prescribed medications, managing chronic conditions, and providing specialized procedures as required. You will be responsible for recognizing and responding to urgent or emergent situations, implementing emergency care plans, and coordinating with emergency services if needed. Accurate documentation of all assessments, interventions, and communication is central to this role, with attention to confidentiality and compliance with state and district guidelines.
Collaboration is a major part of the day-to-day responsibilities. You will work closely with teachers, school administrators, related service providers, and the special education team to support the student’s academic and social success. Regular communication with parents or guardians and outside healthcare providers helps ensure continuity of care. You may also provide health education and guidance to school staff regarding the student’s condition, emergency procedures, and any necessary accommodations.

This is a school-based position following the district academic calendar, offering predictable weekday hours aligned with the school day. Shifts are generally daytime, Monday through Friday, with no overnight work and limited evening requirements related to school events. Patient care is strictly 1:1, enabling you to build a strong relationship with the student and offer focused, high-quality care without a high patient ratio.
