You must have an active Texas or compact state RN license, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and at least one year of recent wound care or medical-surgical nursing experience. Completion of a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN)-accredited education program and certification from the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) are highly recommended. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, strong assessment and patient education skills, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams are recommended for success in this role12.
