The Gypsy Nurse Spring Virtual Conference 2022: Going the Distance: Dating While Travel Nursing
Dating in today’s time can pose a difficult task. Finding the right one can seem virtually impossible with the effects of social media, the pandemic, and availability. Now add travel nursing, assignment changes, and shift variations on top of that, and you will understand why dating while travel nursing is sometimes problematic. Join veteran travel nurses John Saults, Sam & Annie and Courtney Ferreira to discuss how they have struggled and conquered the dating scene while on assignment.

About The Presenters:
John Saults:
Hey y’all! I’m John, aka @ermursejohn! I have been an ER nurse for almost 5 years and have been traveling on and off for half of those years. I have worked in everything from critical access ERs in Wyoming to one of the largest trauma centers in Boston! My favorite thing about travel nursing, besides meeting amazing people, is that it gives you the opportunity to learn new skills, meds, cultures, etc. on every assignment! I just finished contract #5 in D.C. and am currently working at home in Tennessee at my per diem job while I figure out my next move!
Sam & Annie:
Sam and Annie met in college in 2006 and have been together ever since. They had a simple beach wedding in 2012 and have two daughters, ages 8 and 10. They encouraged each other along the way as they both eventually pursued nursing careers with the intent and goal to travel. Sam has been a nurse since 2017, starting in the ICU and moving to the OR. He has been travel nursing with the family since January 2020 and just signed his 10th contract. Annie has been a Labor and Delivery nurse since 2011 and is currently doing virtual lactation consulting and homeschooling the kids while they travel. They also travel with their two dogs, Emi and Lois. Travel nursing as a family has become their greatest passion, and they have plans to continue as long as they can.
Courtney Ferreira:
I have been a nurse for nine years, starting in psych, then tele, then ER. I have been traveling for almost five years have been able to have many opportunities in 10+ contracts (and counting), including level 1 peds ER, flying patients with the coast guard and supervisor at a rural community hospital on an island. I recently became a homeowner (thank you, travel nursing!!), traveling the world and doing photography for fun.
