Key Responsibilities of the Travel Nurse:
-
Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to mothers and babies during the postpartum period
-
Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of mother and baby, including vital signs, breastfeeding, wound healing, and general well-being
-
Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate documentation
-
Educate mothers on postpartum care, breastfeeding, infant care, and newborn safety
-
Provide emotional support and reassurance to new mothers
-
Assist with newborn screenings and tests
-
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team for comprehensive care
-
Communicate effectively with families, physicians, and other providers
-
Monitor and respond to changes in mother or baby’s condition and report concerns promptly
-
Maintain up-to-date and accurate patient records
Qualifications of the Travel Nurse:

Active RN license (Virginia or Compact state)
-
Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Mother & Baby experience
