Travel Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (RN)

Key Responsibilities of the Travel Nurse

• Provide direct care and monitoring throughout all stages of labor and childbirth.

• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency procedures.

• Administer medications, including epidurals, Pitocin, and pain management, as ordered.

• Monitor fetal heart tones, contractions, and maternal vital signs.

• Collaborate closely with OB/GYNs, midwives, anesthesiologists, and NICU staff.

• Educate and support patients and families during labor and postpartum recovery.

• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to hospital policies and safety standards.

Requirements of the Travel Nurse

• Active Texas RN license (or compact eligible).

• BLS and ACLS certifications required.

• NRP and fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN) strongly preferred.

• Minimum 2 years’ recent L&D experience in a high-volume setting.

• Strong clinical judgment, multitasking, and communication skills.

• Comfortable managing both routine and high-risk deliveries.
