Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Lambeth Children’s Services**. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding cases, and ensuring children and families receive safe, effective, and high-quality services.

As a Team Manager, you will provide professional supervision, direction, and guidance to your team, while also driving performance improvement and embedding reflective, child-centred practice across the service.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to a team of social workers.

Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory duties are met.

Support professional development of staff through reflective supervision, coaching, and mentoring.

Ensure statutory assessments, care plans, and reviews are completed to a high standard and within timescales.

Monitor team performance and practice standards, contributing to audits, inspections, and quality assurance processes.

Work collaboratively with schools, health partners, police, and voluntary organisations to promote effective multi-agency working.

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.

Contribute to service planning, innovation, and continuous improvement in Children’s Services.

About You

You are a confident leader with significant post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are skilled at supervising social workers, managing complex safeguarding work, and promoting high standards of child-centred practice.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.

Proven supervisory or management experience within social work.

Excellent understanding of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire social workers.
