ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Organizes, prepares, and safely handles equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. Utilizes surgeon preference cards. Assists with the provision and reinforcement of patient education according to the plan of care. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred (IMH is willing to train the right candidate). EXPERIENCE Previous experience as a surgical technologist preferred. Previous experience with instrumentation required. Previous hospital experience strongly preferred. CREDENTIALS Must obtain BLS within 60 days of hire and must maintain certification throughout employment with IMH. If graduate of a surgical technologist program, must be certified by the ASA as a CST or complete certification within 3 months of hire and must maintain credential throughout employment with IMH. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing. Demonstrate effective listening skills. Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision. Ability to learn new computer software programs. Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
