Senior Social Worker – Children’s Services (East Riding of Yorkshire Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Senior Social Worker (Qualified Social Worker)** to join **East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this senior role, you will manage complex safeguarding cases, provide professional supervision to colleagues, and ensure children and families receive high-quality, timely support.

You will play a key role in safeguarding children, supporting families, and promoting positive outcomes while contributing to service development and mentoring within the team.

Key Responsibilities

Manage complex child protection and safeguarding cases in line with statutory responsibilities.

Provide supervision, mentoring, and reflective practice support to social workers and support staff.

Undertake in-depth assessments of children and families to inform planning and interventions.

Develop, implement, and review child-centred care and protection plans.

Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for court proceedings, child protection conferences, and statutory panels.

Chair multi-agency meetings, ensuring effective and coordinated interventions.

Build strong relationships with children, families, and carers to achieve sustainable positive outcomes.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with legislation and council policy.

Contribute to audits, service development, and continuous quality improvement within Children’s Services.

About You

You are a resilient and confident social worker with substantial post-qualification experience in children’s services. Skilled in managing complex safeguarding cases, you are able to make sound professional decisions while providing leadership and guidance to colleagues. You are committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred outcomes.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Extensive post-qualification experience in statutory Children’s Services, including safeguarding and court work.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice in children’s social care.

Experience of mentoring, supervising, or supporting colleagues.

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage demanding caseloads while maintaining a child-focused approach.
