Senior Social Worker – Adults’ Services (Bradford Metropolitan District Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Senior Social Worker (Qualified Social Worker)** to join **Bradford Metropolitan District Council’s Adults’ Services team**. This role combines complex casework with leadership responsibilities, ensuring adults are safeguarded, supported, and empowered to live independently wherever possible.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will manage complex cases, provide professional supervision and guidance to colleagues, and work in partnership with multi-agency teams to deliver safe and effective services.

Key Responsibilities

– Undertake and lead on complex adult social care cases, including safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act assessments. – Provide supervision, mentoring, and professional support to social workers and support staff. – Develop, implement, and review personalised care and support plans that promote wellbeing and independence. – Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court proceedings, safeguarding reviews, and statutory panels. – Work collaboratively with health services, housing, voluntary organisations, and community partners to deliver joined-up care. – Ensure compliance with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and other statutory frameworks. – Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with professional and legal standards. – Contribute to service audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You are a confident and resilient social worker with extensive experience in adults’ social care. You are skilled at managing complex safeguarding cases, supervising colleagues, and making sound, evidence-based decisions. With strong communication and leadership skills, you are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred outcomes for adults and their families.

Requirements

– Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**. – Extensive post-qualification experience within **Adults’ Services**, including safeguarding and complex casework. – Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and adult safeguarding legislation. – Demonstrable experience of supervising or mentoring colleagues. – Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills. – Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining best practice.
