Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled School Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Columbia, Maryland. Required Qualifications:

• One year of recent experience as a School RN
• Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

• National Certified School Nurse (NCSN)
• Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position

Summary:

The School RN promotes the health and well-being of students by providing medical care, health education, and illness prevention strategies in a school setting. These professionals assess student health, respond to medical emergencies, administer treatments, and collaborate with educators, parents, and healthcare providers to support student success.

Essential Work Functions:

• Assess students to identify health concerns, including vision, hearing, and growth checks
• Provide first aid, emergency care, and illness assessments for students
• Monitor students for illness, injury, and medication side effects, notifying parents and healthcare providers as needed
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with school policies and physician instructions
• Educate students on basic hygiene, health promotion, and self-care practices
• Develop emergency response plans for medical incidents
• Train faculty and staff on first aid, CPR, and the use of emergency medical equipment
• Collaborate with school counselors and social workers as needed
• Maintain health records for students including all health-related incidents, treatments, and parent communications
• Provide care across a range of school environments, including elementary, middle, and high schools
• Work with diverse student populations, including students with disabilities and special healthcare needs
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice and in accordance with school health policies and district regulations

Required Essential Skills:

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
• The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
• The ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
• Physical Abilities – Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
• Interpersonal Skills – Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
• Technical/Motor Skills – Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
• Mental Requirements – Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
• Sensory – Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
