Make sure to ask if they already have Cerner experience & if so, was this recent? They can comp test out of Cerner training.-Charge Nurse: House supervisor in house 24/7, Nurse Manager during normal business hours, Nurse Shift Managers + Charge Nurse OR Break Nurse each shift. If no Nurse Shift Manager, will have a Charge Nurse + Break Nurse-Nurse AidesCNAs based on the census-Weekend Requirement”4 shifts out of 4-week schedule.-Weekend shifts for nights are Fri/Sat & Sat Sun for days”-HolidaysTravelers are expected to work into the perm staff holiday rotation schedule (1 major holiday & 1 minor holiday)-Scrub ColorNavy blue. If you wear a scrub jacket it also must be navy. If you wear an undershirt underneath your scrub top it must be navy, white, or black.-TelePhillips *Must be able to read & interpret all cardiac rhythms-VentsCpap or Bipap (per RT)-Hospitalist or Intensivist in houseYes – on call after hours-IV TeamNo-RT 24/7Yes-Pharmacy 24/7Yes & Omnicell-Shifts12’s 7 – 7:30. Do not be late. Very strict regarding attendance. AM huddle. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. -FloatingTravelers are the 1st to float. Could possibly float between MSW & MHB because they are under the same license, traveler may float between the two. Float to any MedSurg/Tele. ICU for MedSurg patients if no beds. ER for MedSurg Tele holds.-Floor specific orientationNormally 1-2 shifts; however, could be up to 3 depending on Cerner experience. If have Cerner could be less orientation on the unit.-Common diagnosis / Types of patientsAcute/Chronic Medical Conditions, Post Surgical patients including Bariatrics and Total Joints (must be comfortable with this population). Stroke patients, non-titratable drips. – Set Rate Drips: Set rate Cardizem, Amiodarone & Heparin-Additional NotesWarm welcoming staff. Can be a challenge because it is a mixed unit (MedSurg & Tele). Very fast paced, busy, high turnover. Any issues that compromise patient safely will not be tolerated. Cancellation Policy:Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks (Hospital may also pay full hours for a particular shift, in lieu of cancellation).
