Phase 2 in ACU for pre-op outpatient.- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1-2:1- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS- Common Cases: General surgery, Ortho totals and minor cases, ENT, Uro, Gyne, C/S, and podiatry.- Experience: Previous travel preferred. Prefer 2-5 yrs of PACU experience but will consider strong candidate with less experience. – EMR: Meditech- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: OR Charge RN, RNs are self sufficient- manipulate their assignments on their own.- Are there nurse aids on this unit: No- RT Equipment: Vents (majority are extubated before PACU), Cpap/Bipap.- ICU patients – do they recover in PACU?: Occasionally, if intubated they are transported back to ICU after OR, for ICU to take over care.- RNs read strips: Yes- Shifts & Scheduling: 9 or 10 hour shifts that rotate to cover late discharges. Schedule out 4 weeks in advance for 6 weeks, no self scheduling.- Weeknight/Call Requirements: Average 1 weeknight/week.- Weekend/Call Requirements: Average one weekend every 5-6 weekends.- Holiday/Call Requirements: Call coverage.- What is call response time: 30 minutes.- Floating Requirements:Yes, PACU RN’s cover pre-op holding room.
