May be required to float to L&D and Mother/Baby if they are having a staffing crisis in those areas. Special Procedures/Unit Details : NICUUVA Children s NICU is a 54 bed unit comprised of intensive (ICU) and intermediate (ICN) care patients. NICU RNs attend highrisk deliveries offering neonatal resuscitation for infants with extreme prematurity and other birth complications. Nurses carefor infants born with congenital defects, surgical needs, respiratory distress, neurological disorders, and other diagnoses withan emphasis on relationship-based care where families are true care partners. Using cutting edge technology and a focus onevidence-based practice, the NICU at UVA Children s is a regional transfer center serving patients from all over theCommonwealth. We offer advanced therapies such Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation and hypothermia treatment.Patients receive various modes of monitoring and support, including respiratory, hemodynamic, and thermoregulation. Nurseratios are typically 1:2 in the ICU and 1:3 in the ICN.Acute PediatricsAcute Care Pediatrics is a team of about 100 employees with a vast knowledge in all things pediatric. We have a total of 40beds with the largest admitting services to Acute Care Pediatrics being Cardiology, Surgery, General Pediatric Medicine, andHematology Oncology. Within our 39 beds there are 6 Intermediate Stepdown beds, an epilepsy monitoring area, and a futurePediatric Bone Marrow Unit. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 in the Intermediate area and 1:4-5 in the Acute Care area. As partof our interdisciplinary team you will find Child Life Specialists, Respiratory Therapy, Speech, Occupational and PhysicalTherapists. We work very closely with our physician partners in efforts to continuously improve the patient experience.PICUThe Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 22 bed unit providing care to children who s ages range from newborn to 18 yearsold. The PICU provides care for cardiac and medical illnesses, and the nurses providing care in the unit usually care for one ortwo patients depending on the severity of the patients illness. Patient diagnoses include, but are not limited to, congenitalcardiac defects, respiratory disease, trauma injuries, transplantation (liver, heart, kidney), neurosurgical, orthopedic, andgeneral surgical interventions. Nurses routinely care for patients requiring vasoactive infusions, mechanical ventilation,intracranial and hemodynamic monitoring, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and ventricular assist devices (VAD).The interdisciplinary team, including the nurse, physician, respiratory therapist, physical/occupational therapist, and child lifespecialist, work closely with the patient and family to provide individualized care and support.The Pediatric Emergency Department is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the care of pediatric patients (age 0-21 years). Staffed by Pediatric Emergency physicians and nurses, we see children and teens immediately and prioritize cases according to the level of the emergency. No matter how big or how small the emergency, we provide specialized treatment in a friendly, caring environment, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. It is the only dedicated facility of its type in Virginia Special Equipment : **Must have a minimum of PICU experience and comfortable with NICU, Acute pediatrics and the Pediatric ED. Please reach out if applicants do not have minimum requirements. #Tier2 Travel Compliance RTO – Travelers are only guaranteed up to 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract. Please confirm RTO requests are accurate at time of submission. No additional RTO requests will be approved after acceptance. If traveler has any vacation plans during the period between Sign Date and Start Date, this must be communicated to the Client Delivery Manager at the time of submission to ensure a realistic start date may be requested Experience – Please refer to the job description for required experience. Valid State License – Will accept pending licenses, but must have license in-hand the Wednesday before start date. However, RRT travelers must have license in-hand at time of submission Mile Radius Rule – select units have a 50 mile travel restriction, any units not listed do not have a mile radius rule.
