If unable to pass – A Portacount test would be required, which CANNOT be completed on clinicians with facial hair & PAPR CANNOT be completed on site solely due to failing because of facial hair – contract would be canceled if facial hair cannot be removed.- # of Beds: 17 beds – 14 inpatient, 3 observation- Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4, Nights: 1:5- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds. UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, COPD- Are RNs required to titrate drips? No- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Electrolytes, hypertensive medications, diuretics – do not titrate hypertensive/hypotensive medications – rarely have diuretics continually infusing- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes & they do take assignment.- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: 2:15 – 2 nurse aids on days; 1 nurse aid on nights- Pediatrician in house 24/7?: Not in house but on call for pediatric patients – peds are not managed by the hospitalist- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides troubleshoot?: We do not have vents on MSP; occasional bipap managed by RT primarily- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: ICU monitors teles, reads strips, etc. MSP nurses apply the tele to pt. – Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 7-7 // self-scheduling- Weekend Requirement: As needed- Holiday Requirement: No requirement- Floating Requirements: ED/ICU for 1:1s as needed- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: Navy blue- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1- 12 hour shift – or if needed one night and one day orientation- Additional Notes: Attributes that help a nurse be successful on this unit include communication, motivation, and approachability – absolutely and the ability to work well with others and be part of a team. Most importantly, ask questions when unsure. Documentation can be tricky at times. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract).
