Unit Information:o Beds: 23? Census? Average patients/day?o Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year, at least 6 months of this needs to be neuroo Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, manager approval for first time traveler? Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:o This unit focused on TBIso Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Strokes (CVA), Amputee’s, Burns, Pediatric and Multi Trauma, pneumonia, tunneled caths, post cranies with shunts. Average 14 day stayo Travelers not expected to care for peds patients o Dialysis patient – sent to HD, PD taken to cycler area? Patient Ratios:o 1:6-7. Typically could go up to 7 2-3 times per month? Required License, National Certification, Certs:o BLS, NIHSS? Skills required:o Trach care, vent, IV’s, PICC, central lines, wound care, bowel programs, TPN, drains/tubes, pulmonary patients with trachs, laryngectomies, central line, G-tube/Peg-tube (tube feeds); VADs (core staff responsible)? Support within the Department:o Phlebotomy, but RNs ultimately responsibleo PCA/CNA: 1:7-8 ratioo Unit Coordinators (secretaries) 0700-2300o MDs, NPs, Residentso PT/OT/STo Leadershipo No monitors on unit. Vital sync monitors and hooks up to Oxy net. Centralized area to monitor at night? Technology/Equipment:o EMR: Cernero IV Pump: Plum 360o Med dispensing: Omnicell? Floating: If yes, where?o Could float within scope of practice here. All staff evenly float; mainly use Float Pool to floato Travelers do not care for peds patients? Orientation (facility and unit): o Monday-Onlineo Tuesday-NVCI (In-person)o Wednesday-Frazier Orientation (In-Person)o The rest of the hours for the week will be scheduled ? Scheduling:o Weekend rotation: Every thirdo On call? Noo Holiday Expectations: Will be expected to work some holidays.
