Description: Specialty: Med SurgFacility: WVU Weirton Medical CenterState License: WVCerts/Licenses: Years of Experience: 1 year(s)Shift: 12H Nights 12 hr nights, weekends as scheduledGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekDescription: Unit Notes:50 mile radius rule – ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF CANDIDATE’S UNEXPIRED DRIVER’S LICENSELICENSING HITS MUST BE DISCLOSED AT TIME OF SUBMISSION- # of Beds27- Nurse:Patient Ratiosdaylight 1:5(max 6) night turn 1:6(max 7)- Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?)BLS- Common diagnoses/Types of patients”Ortho: Post Op knee replacement, Hip Replacment, Hip Fractures, Shoulder Replacement GU: TURBT, TURP, Bladder biopsy, etc. – General: Hemicolectomy, Cholecystectomy, Appy, Hernia Repair, etc. Cath Lab: post peripheral interventions, dialysis cath insertions, etc. “- Experience or ‘Must have’ skillsTransfuse blood, RN License, wound vac changes, PCA pumps- Are RNs required to titrate drips?Heparin drips per protocol- Common titratable &/or set rate dripsHeparin drips per protocol- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?Yes, charge nurses on each shift. – Daylight charge does not take an assignment. Night turn charge can take a small assignment of 2-3 pts.- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?”Patient Care Technicians on unit. Staffing: 3 PCTS on dayshift and 2 PCTs on nightshift. Job Duties: Bathe pts, change linens, assist with feeds, ambulate patients, take vital signs q4h and document in EMR, empty and record I&Os on hemovacs, JP drains, Foley catheters, G tubes, NG tubes, oral intake, daily weights, EKGs, Blood glucose monitoring, bladder scanning, transporting pts to cars on discharge. “- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?RT on unit will administer breathing treatments and help to manage Resp Equipment such as Cpap, BiPap- Trouble shooting only. High Flow, etc.: Nursing applies as patient condition warrants. No Vents on this unit. – Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?No monitor techs on this unit. Nursing on Level 7 is not required to read their own strips. They are interpreted by the monitor tech on Level 5(IMC). An interpretated copy of the strip is faxed to Level 7 for the nurse to review. The interpretation can be documented into EMR. The original monitor strips are placed into the physical c Chart each night by the monitor tech. These strips will then be sent to medical records at the time discharge. – Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?)”Shifts: RNs 7-7, CNAs 6-6 No self-scheduling. Schedules are discussed with staff and Set schedules are usually followed depending on staff preference and personal needs. Schedule is adjusted accordingly when vacations and holidays need to be covered. No block scheduling. “- Weekend RequirementEvery other weekend- Holiday Requirement”May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation.- Holidays are based on a rotating schedule. Currently the holidays are: GROUP 1 New Years Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve & GROUP 2 Memorial Day, Labor Day and Christmas. Alternate every other year Group 1 to Group 2.”- Is there Call or a Standby requirement?”No On Call. Standby is on EA. EA is given for low census, 4 hours at a time. Dayshift: Low census given EA at 0500 for the daylight shift, call in at 0900 to see if needed. If needed, come in by 1100. If not needed, call back in at 1300. If needed, come in by 1500. If not needed, off for the rest of the shift. Night shift: low census EA given at 1700, call in at 2100. If needed, come in by 2300. If not needed, off for the rest of the night. “- Floating Requirements”Floating is on a rotating basis if needed on another unit. Last Float to another unit is kept track by the charge nurse and rotated to the next staff member. Can be voluntary also. Floating is not considered if covering the IRF(rehab unit). Staff is shared between both units as needed. May be floated to any other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC unit to care for lower acuity patients “- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?”Nursing: Navy Blue Scrubs or White Scrubs PCT: Ceil blue scrubs Ward Clerks(secretary): Hot Pink and Black Scrubs(Usually black scrub pants) Scrubs are Not provided. “- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?1 day with Educator, 1-2 days with preceptor Cancellation Policy:Client may cancel 2 shifts per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks.
