Communicates with physicians/Nursing Director/coworkers, as appropriate about changes in patient s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respondquickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally,is able to perform generalnursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. II.Demonstrates competency in the following areas: A.Knowledge of medications and their correctadministration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.B.Ability to performa head-to-toe assessment on all patientsand reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.C.Ability to reviseplan of care as indicatedby the patient s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.D.Formulates a teachingplan based upon identified learningneeds and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.E.Pain management assessment techniques utilized. Educatesthe patient and family regarding pain management.F.Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provides services.G.Communicatesprofessionally to MedicalSurgical Nursing Director,coworkers, and physicians.H.Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient s needs.I.Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient,including pediatric, geriatric, and general population.J.Demonstratesan ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.K.Demonstratesan ability to be flexible,organized and functionunder stressful situation.L.Treats patients and their familieswith respect and dignity. M.Identifies and addressespsychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Functions as liaison between Administration, patients, physicians and other health care providers.N.Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.O.Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.P.Documentationmeets current standardsand policies, is legible and accurate.Q.Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families; communicates with social service/discharge plannerregarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs.R.Manages and operatesequipment safely and correctly.S.Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.T.Understands and assistsin implementing core measures. III.Professional Requirements: A.Meets dress code standards of assigned nursingunit; appearance is neat and clean.B.Completes annual educational requirementsC.Maintains regulatory requirements.D.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.E.Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completeswork within designated time.F.Wears identification whileon duty; uses computerized punchtime system correctly.G.Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.H.Attends at least75% annualstaff meetings read meetingminutes.I.Represents the organization in a positiveand professional manner.J.Actively participates in quality improvement activities.K.Complies with all organizational policiesregarding ethical businesspractices.L.Communicates the mission,ethics and goalsof the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department. IV.Regulatory Requirements: A.Current Colorado Registered Nurse licenseB.Current BLS certificationC.PALS must be obtained withinone yr of hire.D.ACLS must be obtained withinone yr of hire. V.Language Skills: A.Ability to communicate effectively in English,both verbally and in writingB.Additional languages preferred. VI.Skills:A. Basic computer knowledge. VII.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, grasp, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk; and taste or smell. The employee is required to hear alarms on equipment, client calls, and instructions from physicians/department staff. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by his job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors, and the ability to adjust focus. VIII.Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, there is a risk of electric shock and risk of radiation. Within the course and scope of this job, the RN may be required as necessary to accompany patients being transported from AVRMC to another facility by ground ambulance.
