Requires ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate – Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). 4×10 HrGuaranteed Hours: 40.00Description: General Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the positions. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from this position. -Chemotherapy and Administration and Consultation: Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by physician: consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc.; provides a variety of assistance to physicians. -Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments. -Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. -Assists physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.-Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. -Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.-Delivers patient care competently. -Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the clinic, time of discharge, and continued care via phone triage. -Informs patient and family of clinic procedures. -Patient Education: Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients, family, etc.; answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate. -Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. -Delegates tasks to support staff. -Patient Follow Up: Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with the patients after their clinic visits.
