This includes, but is not limited to: Cardiac surgery:Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair and replacement, minimal invasive and robotic valves, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), left ventricular assist device (LVAD placement)Vascular surgery:Open endovascular abdominal aneurysm repair, peripheral vascular, carotid stenting, angioplasty procedures, and amputationsThoracic surgery: Open thoracotomy, video assisted thoracoscopy (VATS), esophageal/hernia repairs, bronchoscopy, esophagoscopy, roboticsRoles in the ORCirculating Nurse Manages the overall nursing care in the operating room and helps maintain a safe, comfortable environment. Surgical Technologist (ST) / Scrub Nurse Prepare the operating room, including the sterile field, setting up surgical equipment, supplies and solutions. During surgery, STs pass instruments, fluids and supplies to the surgeon and prepare and manage surgical equipment.
