TRAVELER WILL BE PUSHED BACK IF ALL MODULES ARE NOT COMPLETED. NO EXCEPTIONS***- Unit: SICU CVICU- # beds: 10 beds- Certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS required; CCRN Preferred- Ratios: 1 to 1 or 1 to 2- EMR: Cerner – Charge Nurse: Charge Nurse 24/7 – no patients unless absolutely necessary. Also have a resource nurse 24/7- Nurse Aides: No techs, but have patient care support staff/unit clerk/secretary that can set up rooms, answer phones, help answer call lights, etc – Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; however it could be more based on the needs of the unit, however this would be rare if it was more that every other…- Holidays: 2 out 3 for major holidays (winter holidays) other holidays are as needed & would fall into perm staff rotation- Scrub Color: Navy blue. If you wear a scrub jacket it also must be navy. If you wear an undershirt underneath your scrub top it must be navy, white, or black.- Tele: Phillips central monitors in the nurse station & also hard wired in each room- Vents: Draeger, Hamilton G5 & Galileo. Transport vent is LVT- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Intensivist in house 7a-5p then on-call after hours – IV Team: No – RT 24/7: Yes- Pharmacy 24/7: Yes & Omnicell- Shifts: 12’s: 7 – 7:30. This unit does not do self scheduling. Time off requests need to be requested prior to the contract. Requests made after the assignment has started will need to be approved by the manager when they make the schedule. Block scheduling is not guaranteed, but if it works with schedule they will allow it.- Floating: Only floating would be to the other ICUs or to ER for inpatient ICU holds- Floor specific orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Must have general medical & surgical ICU experience in addition to CVICU experience for this unit. TAVR, Impella, IABP, recovering fresh hearts immediate from the OR, Lumbar drains, Swanz, manual hemo experience preferred. STEMI, AAA, Hypothermia, sepsis, any MedSurg ICU patient, but more focused on CV & CT patients. No CRRT.- Additional Notes: This is a very high acuity, fast paced unit, Must be flexible. Assignments can change anytime during shift. Could be floated to another ICU anytime during the shift. with Cancellation Policy:Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks (Hospital may also pay full hours for a particular shift, in lieu of cancellation).
