Brief Job Overview

 
We are looking for an experienced and confident Advanced Social Worker to join Devon County Council’s Children & Families Service in the North and Mid Devon area on a short-term (3-month) locum basis.  

As an Advanced Social Worker, you will provide professional leadership and guidance within your team, supporting your Team Manager in the delivery of high-quality, effective services to children and families. You will hold a smaller, more complex caseload while also mentoring, supervising, and supporting colleagues to raise professional standards and embed reflective practice.

This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role — perfect for an experienced practitioner who thrives on improving outcomes for children while helping others develop their skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with your Team Manager to support the daily operations of the Children & Families team and contribute to a high-quality, efficient service.
• Provide professional supervision, coaching, and mentoring to social workers, students, and alternatively qualified staff.
