Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Practice Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **Royal Borough of Greenwich Children’s Services team**. This role focuses on leading and managing a social work team, ensuring high-quality safeguarding practice, and supporting children and families to achieve the best possible outcomes.

As a Practice Manager, you will provide professional supervision, manage performance, and lead on service delivery within your team. You will ensure statutory duties are met while promoting a culture of reflective practice, continuous learning, and child-centred decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership, direction, and day-to-day management of a social work team.

Supervise and support social workers to ensure effective safeguarding and child protection practice.

Oversee complex casework, offering professional advice and guidance where needed.

Ensure statutory assessments, care planning, and reviews are completed in line with legislation and Greenwich Council policies.

Monitor and manage team performance, ensuring high standards of practice and service delivery.

Contribute to audits, service reviews, and quality assurance processes.

Promote multi-agency working with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations.

Support staff development through reflective supervision, mentoring, and coaching.

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.

Contribute to service planning, policy development, and strategic initiatives.

About You

You are a confident and motivated leader with significant post-qualification experience in children’s social work. You are skilled at supervising teams, managing complex cases, and ensuring children’s needs are placed at the centre of practice.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Extensive post-qualification experience in Children’s Services.

Proven supervisory or management experience in social work.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

Ability to mentor, coach, and develop social workers.
