Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Practice Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Tower Hamlets Children’s Services**. This leadership role is focused on supporting and supervising social work staff, overseeing complex safeguarding work, and ensuring services deliver high-quality, child-centred practice.

As a Practice Manager, you will be responsible for supervising a team of social workers, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met, and contributing to service development and continuous improvement. You will provide professional guidance while also managing performance and practice standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide professional supervision, direction, and support to a team of social workers.

Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases to ensure safe and effective interventions.

Support reflective practice and continuous professional development within the team.

Ensure assessments, care plans, and reviews are delivered to a consistently high standard.

Contribute to audits, quality assurance processes, and service improvement initiatives.

Work collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners to promote effective safeguarding and care planning.

Prepare and present reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings as required.

Monitor team performance, ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks, policies, and procedures.

Promote best practice, learning, and innovation across children’s services.

About You

You are an experienced and motivated leader with strong post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in supervising staff, managing complex safeguarding cases, and embedding reflective and high-quality practice within your team.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Significant post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.

Proven supervisory or management experience within social work.

Excellent knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and safeguarding procedures.

Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

Experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing staff.
