Job Overview
- We are recruiting an experienced Pharmacist to provide general ward cover across multiple specialties including admissions, medicine, and surgery. This locum position offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative hospital pharmacy team, contributing to safe and effective medicines management across inpatient and dispensary settings.
- The role primarily focuses on delivering clinical pharmacy support on the wards while also providing dispensary cover for a few hours each week. Alternatively, we are open to considering a pharmacist who would prefer to be based predominantly in the dispensary.

Key Responsibilities
- – Provide clinical pharmacy support across medical, surgical, and admissions wards, ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines.
- – Undertake medicines reconciliation, clinical screening, and prescription verification to optimise patient outcomes.
- – Offer expert advice to medical and nursing staff on all aspects of drug use, interactions, and side effects.
- – Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the hospital dispensary, including dispensing and checking prescriptions.
- – Ensure compliance with legal, professional, and organisational standards for medicines management.
- – Support the implementation of local and national pharmacy policies, audits, and best practice initiatives.
- – Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care and hospital-wide pharmacy services.

About You
- You’ll be a detail-oriented and motivated Pharmacist with recent hospital experience and the ability to provide effective clinical and dispensary support. You’ll demonstrate sound clinical knowledge across general medical and surgical areas, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to patient safety and service delivery.
- Whether you’re looking for a mixed ward and dispensary role or prefer to focus primarily on dispensary work, this role offers flexibility to suit your experience and working style.

Requirements
- – Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent)
- – Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- – Recent hospital pharmacy experience (essential)
- – Strong clinical knowledge across medical and surgical specialties
- – Experience providing dispensary services including checking and dispensing (essential)
- – Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- – Ability to manage time effectively and work independently

Contract & Salary
- – Contract type: Locum
- – Contract length: Ongoing
- – Working hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, flexible hours available)
- – Location: NHS Hospital (UK-based)
- – Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
