Brief Job Overview

Cornwall Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its community-based Adult Social Care service, covering Mid Cornwall. This is one of three roles supporting services across the county and focuses on promoting independence, optimising care, and reducing reliance on long-term care packages.

The role involves regular face-to-face work within the community and offers flexibility around working hours for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

 
• Undertake community-based occupational therapy assessments.
   

• Support individuals to maximise independence and reduce reliance on care packages.
   

• Manage a varied caseload, taking on a number of cases each week.
   

• Complete regular face-to-face visits in line with service requirements.
   

• Work collaboratively with Adult Social Care teams and partner agencies.
   

• Provide practical, outcome-focused recommendations to support optimal care.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in community-based work. You will be confident managing your own caseload, engaging directly with service users, and delivering practical solutions that promote independence and wellbeing.

Requirements

 
• Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification.
   

• Current HCPC registration.
   

• Experience working as a community Occupational Therapist.
   

• Previous experience within Adult Social Care (preferred).
   

• Ability to carry out face-to-face assessments in the community.
   

• Strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills.

Contract & Working Pattern

 
• Locum contract – ongoing
   

• Ideally full time, though part-time or flexible arrangements may be considered
   

• Community-based role with a requirement for weekly face-to-face visits
   

• Competitive rate: £27.62 per hour (Umbrella)
