Independent Reviewing Officer

LBBD Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join our Children’s Services team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in social work and current registration with Social Work England (SWE). This role is vital in ensuring that looked-after children receive the highest standard of care and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Chair statutory review meetings for looked-after children, ensuring timely and effective care planning.

• Monitor the progress of care plans and advocate for the best interests of children and young people.

• Work collaboratively with social workers, carers, families, and partner agencies to support positive outcomes.

• Ensure children’s voices are heard and integrated into decision-making processes.

• Maintain accurate records and produce reports in compliance with statutory requirements.

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ social work experience, preferably in children’s services.

• Current and valid Social Work England (SWE) registration.

• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
