Key Responsibilities of the Certified Surgical Assistant:

• Assist surgeons during operative procedures by providing direct surgical support

• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and sterile fields

• Perform surgical tasks as delegated, including tissue handling, suturing, and hemostasis

• Maintain sterile technique and follow infection control protocols

• Anticipate surgeon needs and ensure availability of instruments and supplies

• Assist with patient positioning and wound closure

• Accurately document surgical procedures and patient care

Requirements:

• Current Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA or equivalent) credential

• Active Virginia license (or eligibility to obtain, if applicable)

• Minimum of 1 year of recent surgical assisting experience preferred

• Current BLS certification

• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile technique
