Must have ARRT certification.Must have OH licensure Must have experience in scrubbing in for a case in cath or EPlab.Unit Details:2 cardiac interventionalrooms2 EP interventionalrooms.1 Hybrid room forvascular endovascular procedures.11 Pre- andPost-procedural rooms staffed by RNs. Typical procedures:Diagnostic cardiac cathInterventional cardiac cath CTO and high risk interventional cardiac cath Pacemaker implants (all varieties included leadless) Watchman procedures Atrial and Ventricular ablations Tilt tests TEEs PE thrombectomies The main imagingequipment for all five rooms is Phillips.I. PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: The primary purpose of thisposition is to function as a scrub tech, circulator or monitor person for electrophysiologyprocedures under the direction of a Cardiologist. II. EMPLOYMENTQUALIFICATIONS: 1. Highschool graduate or equivalent2. Completionof a two year school of radiology3. Registeredby ARRT (American Registry of Radio logic Technologists) and or RCIScertification4. MaintainCEU s as required by the ARRT5. PreviousCath Lab or Special procedure area experience6. Basiccomputer knowledge7. Maintaincurrent CPR, ACLS required III. ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS: a. Explains planned procedures andgoals to patient and family members in order to allay apprehension and elicitcooperation necessary for attainment of such goals.b. Maintainspatient in accordance with hospital standard c. Performsthe following duties during electrophysiology procedures, under the guidance ofa physician. i. Acts as a scrub assistant: according to establishedpolicy, readies the patient for prescribed procedures. Cares for the patientpost procedure. ii. Acts as circulator: assist physician and scrub personduring procedure as needed. Offers emotional support to patientii. Operates homodynamicmonitoring equipment and interprets data obtained.iii. Acts as a recorder: reviews and records demographicpatient data. Selects, assembles, and checks for proper functioning,operation and cleanliness of equipment needed for procedures in the Cath Labarea.e. Initiates, conducts, and assists in theresuscitative efforts in the event of cardiac arrest or life threateningarrhythmias.f. Remains abreast of current developments in thefield of cardiovascular technology by attending inservice presentations readingjournals, attending conferences and seminars in affiliation with professionalallied health organizations.g. Readies patients for Cardiac Cath and/or other proceduresin accordance with lab policy.h. Recovers patient post procedure, maintaining safereturn to hemostasis includes but is not limited to monitoring vital signs,compressor clamp placement, hand holing site, post cath instructions, EKGmonitoring.i. Transports patient to and from Cath Lab as neededvia stretcher.j. Assume duties as charge person and all duties perdepartment policy.k. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary toprovide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab. IV. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Performsbasic secretarial duties2. Schedules procedures 3. Performsrelated duties and assignments as assigned by the charge person or thedirector.4. Participatesand delivers inservices as needed.5. Restocks rooms in the Cath Lab6. Accepts temporary reassignment in other areas oralternative shifts as needed V. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. The individual performing this job mayreasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood,body fluids, and/or other potentially infectious materials. Individual sin this position are required toexercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices,and learn the policies concerning infection control. 2. Activities are non-sedentary. Assists in lifting and moving patients. May be exposed to abusive combative people.
