Registered NurseAbsolutely loved this assignment- stayed for a full year. Staff was helpful, managers staffed in, really well run. Used EPIC and rooms/equipment were up to date. Teaching hospital- but surgeons here were actually pretty great to work with. Easy to get ahold of staff & everyone is VERY helpful. Lots of ancillary help as well. However, I have heard from friends that mangers are changing on the unit and most core staff has left. Hope it is still a great place to work!Rhianna Becker, Travel Nurse- trauma 6C

Ended contract short. Overall, 5 🌟. Still Recommend!Trevor N., Traveler 5A
Worked primarily on Neuro med surg, but havefloated to almost all med-surg floors. Ratios are almost always 4:1 on med surg. Sometimes 5:1 if not enough staff. Almost always have a free floating charge RN on all floors. Very traveler friendly. Everyone is nice. Phlebotomy for lab draws. RT and Roubding nurses available.Rebecca , RN 5B Neuro Wakemed main
ER RNVery busy hospital with lots of resources in the ER - rounding nurses come down for traumas, strokes, and STEMIs for an extra set of hands, ER phlebotomist for hard sticks, a circulating pastor, US IV nurses, 24/7 case management and social work.. the only downside is the flow of the ER. So busy that lots of times we are holding 3/4 of the ER waiting for beds, so much that you feel like a med surg nurse. Sometimes 4-5 ratio during the day. The main downside is the lack of communication and charge lead. There is no critical thinking of placement of patients depending on acuity, so you get slammed with no help from the staff. They also bypass traige and prioritize putting patients in rooms first rather than triaging first, leaving it up to staff to triage themselves on top of their assignment while the triage nurses in the lobby sit and do less. The rooms fill up and then there are no place to put patients. If there was better management and flow this would be a solid ER, but I got burnt out with the acuity and lack of communication. Definitely good for a short assignment though! People and staff are very friendly.Nicole, Raleigh
