It was nice to have a break nurse and get all the breaks in. I liked the unit and the nurses I worked with. It’s a smaller hospital, so sometimes there would be med tele holds in the ICU. Doctors were responsive but not always proactive at night. I liked their paging system because it’s texting. I don’t get a lot of hands-on skill with the vent as RT manages most of it there. Lots of cardiac patients got some real sickies! The thing I really really didn’t like was that the MRI was literally in another building, so you’d have to walk your patient in their beds through a parking lot… a good thing at nights you never really had to go MRI due to no radiology staff at night.Kayla Mittelstaedt, TRAVEL RN ICU
