A urology RN (registered nurse) is a nurse who specializes in providing care to patients with urologic conditions, such as urinary incontinence, bladder or kidney problems, and male reproductive disorders. The job duties of a urology RN typically include the following:
Assessing patients’ needs, developing and implementing care plans, and administering medications and treatments.
Monitoring patients for complications related to their urologic conditions and reporting any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
Educating patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and self-care practices.
Collaborating with other members of the healthcare team, including urologists, nurses, and other specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Assisting with diagnostic procedures, such as cystoscopies and biopsies, and post-operative care.
Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, and communicating with patients’ primary care physicians as needed.
Staying current on advancements and best practices in urology nursing care.
The ideal candidate for a urology RN position should have a strong background in nursing, with experience in urology and/or critical care. They should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work well as part of a team. Additionally, urology RNs should have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and be able to quickly assess and respond to patient needs. A passion for helping patients and a commitment to providing high-quality care are also essential for success in this role.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
