Registered Nurse
The Registered Nurse must demonstrate
familiarity with dialysis procedures and the knowledge, skills and judgement
necessary to assume the responsibility of caring for the dialysis patient. This
position exercises knowledge of patient rights and ensures an atmosphere which
allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients in a safe,
secure environment. Position cooperates and works together with all co-workers
to plan and complete job duties with applicable supervisory direction,
including exercising job-appropriate judgement.
Essential Functions
• Complies
with all American Renal Management (ARM) policies and procedures as well as
federal, state, OSHA and other agency regulations applicable to the position. Maintains
HIPAA compliance.
• Promotes
positive public relations with patients, their family members, guests, physicians
and coworkers. Uses tactful and appropriate communications in all work-related
interactions.
• Acts
as a resource person for other staff members.
• Ensures
safe and efficient care of all patients and informs physician in a timely
manner of any unusual findings or complaints.
• Demonstrates
and sustains job competencies and skills to perform patient assessments,
dialysis treatments, patient monitoring, treatment or emergency interventions, patient
education, medication administration, water treatment monitoring and
documentation.
• Ensures
the delivery of high-quality care by adhering to ARM standards of care, and
through compliance with federal, state, OSHA, and other agency
regulations.
• Participates
in the Total Quality Management program as directed by the Clinic Manager.
• Provides
patient education to address ESRD and the dialysis treatment.
• Administers
medications as allowed by the State RN Nurse Practice Act.
• Participates
in outcomes monitoring by evaluating patients monthly lab results and notifying
the nurse in charge, Clinic Manager and/or Physician of any abnormal or
critical values.
• Promotes
efficient use of medical supplies and assists with the evaluation of new
products.
• Participates
in staff meetings and assists with the development of care plans as needed to
discuss patient needs and improve the quality of care delivered.
• Performs job duties in accordance with all state/licensing requirements.
• Performs
additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Education and Experience
• Registered
Professional Nurse with current state licensure.
• Work
experience as a professional nurse preferred.
• Meets
all applicable state/licensing requirements.
• Hemodialysis
experience preferred but not required.
• Basic
Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current
CPR Certification
• Ability
to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with clients
and fellow staff members.
