Travel Nursing & Public Health: How to Be a Community Leader

A Live Event with Gifted Healthcare and Erica Rogers

Erica Rogers, RN, has leveraged travel nursing to follow her passions, including starting her own humanitarian aid and relief organization and serving as a leader on public health committees across the nation. In this live event, Rogers shares her nursing journey and discusses how travel nursing offers endless opportunities to provide care at the bedside and beyond. Learn how to stay engaged as a caregiver, become a community leader on any travel nursing assignment, fight nursing burnout, and participate in the effort to end the COVID-19 pandemic.

About Erica:

A native of New Orleans, LA, Erica Rogers knew from an early age she was meant to be a caregiver, drawing inspiration from her aunt who spent a lifetime in service of public and community health. Early on in her nursing career, Erica became committed to improving individual and public health on a large scale, quickly distinguishing herself as a leader and innovator in the nursing community. Erica began her nursing career at Houston’s MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2008. After developing a close and lasting relationship with a patient in cancer treatment, she launched a peer-to-peer support system that helped patients and their families cope with this difficult process. This endeavor grew into The Braveheart Foundation, humanitarian aid and relief organization with a mission to provide resources for healthcare development in communities around the world. Erica created and operationalized the Braveheart Foundation entirely during her time working as a nurse with GIFTED Healthcare and has recruited several GIFTED clinicians to assist her in four mission trips to Uganda to provide healthcare to communities in need. Most recently, during the first wave of COVID-19, she was selected as a member of Governor John Bel Edwards’ Health Equity Task Force, providing best practices and recommendations for mitigating the spread of COVID-19 throughout the state.
